San Francisco Parklet

Taking advantage of San Francisco's innovative program of converting auto parking spaces into public parks, the SF team and I came up with a very special version to bestow upon the store. Open to the public, this Parklet adds outdoor seating and additional bike parking for the neighborhood as well as overflow from the store.

Once we sourced the 50's era French van, Rebar Group of San Francisco designed and fabricated the structure.

Citroen H-Van

The broom wagon, or 'la voiture-balai', was introduced to the Tour de France in 1910, the year the race first went into the high mountains. The broom wagon follows the last rider on the road and when it catches struggling riders, they must climb off their bikes and retire, handing in their race numbers as the van sweeps up the remnants of the peloton. The vintage Citroen ‘H-Van’, a popular model used for such duties, has become very recognizable.
